New in #4

As much as I try to limit my shopping habits here we are, at New in #4 :)
In Dm I found the new versions of tin creams, Balea pflegecreme Frangipani and coconut and Balea pflegecreme Peach and papaya. Frangipani and coconut has a very generic warm floral scent which I'm not the biggest fan of. Peach and papaya is a true winner here, it smells like a tropical cocktail and I can't stop smelling it. I will use both creams as hand creams as they are heavily scented. At my last trip to Dm I also picked up Balea lavender bath bomb. It doesn't produce bubbles but infuses the water with oils. The scent is not a true lavender one but still nice. The bath bomb colors the water in a beautiful blue-violet color and the lavender flower parts are not difficult to remove after you're done with your bath.

Madam Glam It's raining men

My name is Ina and I'm a nailoholic. I love painting my nails and I find it to be a great source of relaxation. In fact I get nervous if a shade is on my nails for too long. But i do understand that a.) not everyone like painting their nails and b.) has (or better yet makes) time to do it. I sometimes find myself in the latter. Sometimes my work demands of me to spend a lot more than 8 hours a day wearing latex gloves which makes my hands sweat and the polish just peels of my nails in large chunks. Lab work can be hard when things don't go like you expected and you have deadlines to catch. Soon you can find yourself going to work with no makeup, hair full of dry shampoo and wearing leggings but you've been working for 10+ days straight and it's Sunday so you tell yourself that it's ok and that you nobody will be in the lab to see you. As superficial as it sounds, in those moment a glimpse of your polished nails can make you feel like a human again. But what good is that if you know that by the end of the day you mani will be ruined and you won't have the energy to redo it every day?

Avon Nail experts Advanced mira-cuticle vanishing complex

Today I have a quick review of this little gem - Avon Nail experts Advanced mira-cuticle vanishing complex* (now that's a mouthful :)) Since I have a lot of cuticle care products this one had to wait quite a while before I started testing it. It claims to reduce, minimize, restore and vanish cuticles with the help of lactic acid (2nd place on the INCI list), With Fall and colder temperatures my cuticles tend to get extra dry so I thought it would be the perfect time to put it to the test.

Nail art with Madam Glam Simple tan and BPS gold hollow cross studs

A while ago Madam Glam sent me some products to try out. They also included Simple tan which really isn't a shade I'd go for so I decided to use it for some nail art.

Alessandro Baby blue

Alessandro Baby blue nail polish was a part of BBMU 2017 goodie bag and I must admit that if I saw it in the store, I wouldn't give it a second look. I like Alessandro brush and formula but the baby blue shade just isn’t what I normally go for. In the end I decided to give it a try and it actually surprised me how much I liked wearing it.

New in #3

Madam Glam sent me two of their gel polish in Simple tan* and It's raining men*. It's a unique system that needs no special base or top coat, just the gel polish and you're good to go. I'm currently wearing Simple tan and I'll show it to you soon. They also sent me their Madam Glam LED light* but I'm waiting for a USA-European electricity converter adapter as the light is made for the USA market.

Dance legend Candy flakes 610 Bite Tonight

Fall on my nails! I love nail polish with flakies because it looks like you tried :) Not everyday is nail art day for me. Dance legend 610 Bite Tonight from their Candy flakes collection is just the right polish for the job. Bite tonight is a dark burgundy jelly polish with flakies that flash from orange to gold. Unfortunately the polish didn't look as good on the nails than it did in the bottle. The base is quite pigmented so the flakies got a bit buried in the base. The good thing is that you only need two coats for the polish to be fully opaque. The application was a breeze and the polish stayed on my nails for four days without chipping (which is normal for my nails). The removal was a different story but with flakies you already know in advance that you're going to have a problem taking it off. Bite Tonight is still a pretty polish, suitable not only for Fall but for year round.

Pamper time essentials (How to pick yourself back up)

Some of you might know that my cat passed away in September and I'm having a really hard time dealing with it. I know every cat owner will tell that their cat is the best but he really was the most amazing and ass-holy cat that ever existed. I miss him so fucking much words can't explain it. One of the advice on grieving was also to be kind to yourself, both mentally and physically and give yourself time.  I've been slacking on taking care of myself so I reintroduced my weekly pamper routine.

Review: BPS yellow stamping nail polish #6

Since I discovered the clear stamper I love stamping even more. Long long time ago Born pretty store sent me their yellow stamping nail polish. They have a big selection of colors, 19 in fact. I was very skeptical about their bright colored stamping polishes so I intentionally picked up yellow stamping polish which stands for trouble in the polish world :) BPS stamping nail polish comes in a square box that contains 15 ml of polish. The polish has a thick consistency but it's not dry or goopy. It has a funny scent but it's not as bad as the Mundo de unas stamping polishes.

I decided to put the stamping polish to the ultimate test - can it stamp over black? The answer is it can! The color did change a bit to a more bright green but it's definitely noticeable on the nail. For the base I used Orly Liquid vinyl and the stamping plate I used MoYou Fashionista 07 plate.

Catrice Neo-Natured limited edition already hit the stores! With its natural colors and wooden details Neo-Natured is a perfect limited edition for Fall. Catrice Slovenia surprised me with two products to test (blush and a lipstick) and if you want to know what I think about them, keep on reading.

Empties #2

I'm back with another batch of empties. Lately I've been really trying to use as much products as I can and I severely limited any new purchases. Since I took a blogging break I'm actually so behind with empties that I already have two to three more empties posts lined up. Let's see what I used up :)

Picture polish Kryptonite

It has been ages since I wore anything green on my nails. My pick was Picture polish Kryptonite. This is my second Picture polish nail polish and this one impressed me as well. The color is amazing, deep forest green with holo glitters. The formula of Picture polish Kryptonite is a bit thin so I needed three coats for this swatch but with this type of polish I am ok with it. Heavily pigmented formula would cover the holo glitters too much and you’d lose the “submerged” effect of the glitters. The application was easy breezy since the polish has a classic brush that allows you a lot of control. What I loved about this polish was also how smooth it dried despite the glitters. The removal of this polish was surprisingly easy, just like a crème one.

Pink October (Breast cancer awareness month)

October is back *happy dance* But this doesn’t only mean roasted chestnuts, beautiful scenery and warm drinks, it’s also breast cancer awareness month. Just like last year Slovenian bloggers decided to help raise awareness about breast cancer, which takes the higher toll than any other type of cancer for women. Just like last year I cannot stress enough the importance of monthly self-examinations, so please hop on that train.

For nails, I decided to go with a pink marble design. For the base I used  Kiko multi effect 03 Cupcake Rose & Starry Crimson (coincidentally the same polish as last year). Once the base was dry, I filled a plastic cup with room temperature water and put in a drop of Barry M Silver polish. After it spread on the surface of the water, I prayed it with a body spray (anything with enough alcohol will do, for example hand sanitizers or rubbing alcohol). This caused separation and marble pattern starts to appear. Then you just dunk your nail in the water as you would with water marbling and repeat the whole process for other nails. The cleanup is not that bad since it’s not much polish in the water but next time I’ll probably use liquid latex/glue. I’m on a matte kick so of course I had to put matte top coat over it - Catrice Silk matt top coat.

Having a light box is great since you can take photos in the middle of the night if you want to (I usually do) However there are rare cases where the mani just doesn’t want to cooperate with artificial lightning which happened in this case. So in this post you get natural light photos.

New in #2: Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp edition

If you follow Slovenian bloggers on social media you've already been bombarded with reports from our second blogger conference Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp. The organization was on point and Nika really did think of every little thing. I think all of us are so grateful, not only for all the amazing lectures but also for the opportunity to hang out with fellow bloggers and all the inspiration and motivation to improve our blogs even more. I would like to thank Nika again for making this all happen.

Special thanks also goes to all the companies who sponsored Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp: Alessandro, Avon, Box of Roses, Caudalie, Catrice, Curaprox, Decléor, Depend, Dvorec Trebnik, dm drogerie markt, e-kozmetika.si, Essence, Kozmetika Afrodita, KSFH, Labello, LaBri, L'Oréal Paris, Nivea, Philips, Ličila.si Le Couvent des Minimes, L'Occitane, Medex, Melvita,, Makeup Revolution, trend it up, VivaDerm, s.Oliver, SMILE concept store, Vichy, Adria Media Ljubljana, Cosmopolitan, La Roche-Posay and Hotel Lev, Ljubljana.

Disclaimer: bloggers got many gifts but this is not the reason for blogging or going to conference/events. This is a way to thank the sponsors and to show the readers what could be reviewed next. I am a very Type A personality (I just like control hehe) so a huge pile of unsorted bags kinda freaks me out. Now that I have all nicely documented, I can put each item in its place. I already know I won't be keeping everything. First reason is that I'm only one person and I can only use up products in a normal quantities. Second not everything works for my skin type/tone so I'd rather gift it to family, friends or readers who will use and enjoy the product.

Unicorn nails (Beautiful Bloggers Meetup 2016)

A year quickly rolls around and it's time for another Beautiful Bloggers Meetup! We had such a blast last year so this year the organizer Nika Veger from Beautyfullblog has an even tougher job. I have no doubt that this year the Meetup will be even better.

This year’s theme is unicorns so I decided to do a unicorn inspired mani. I love this year’s colors, the tickets are black, white and gold so this was my mani inspiration. For base I used Orly Liquid vinyl and for stamping I used Essence A piece of forever. I had to search really hard to find my one and only stamping plate with a unicorn pattern  This is a plate I got from KKCenterHK - NNAIL-SPPMF14. Damask pattern is from MoYou Fashionista 07 plate. I've been really liking the matte effect lately so I mattified my nails with Catrice Silk matte top coat and I love the end effect.

The real MVP is the clear stamper that I have been using religiously ever since I got it. Such a game changer, especially for stamping small detail images like this unicorn. Now I can actually see where the image is going to be placed. If you like stamping, I really recommend you the clear stamper, best few euros ever spent.

New in #1

I've been writing this post for about  a week now :) I'd like to apologize in advance for the photos, they're a mash up of camera and phone so they really don't go together. I haven't had the time (or will hehe) to re-shoot it and some of the waxes are already opened so please bare with me.

Alpstories "Treat yo self" bodymilk*, Rose moisturizing face cream* and Alpstores Cleansing gel Sage & mint*
This was the second time the company had to send me the products. So whoever stole the first package, I hope you're feeling really proud of yourself. Also I hope that the products broke you out. #petty
Alpstories allows you to get creative and design your own packaging as well as the content of the product. I went wild and created my very own bodymilk. "Treat yo self" bodymilk* is packed with extracts of aloe vera, poison ivy, grapefruit, ginkho and natural scent of pomegranate. So far I really enjoy it. It has a thinner consistency so it sinks into the skin fast but nourishes it at the same thime. I also love the sweet yet citrusy scent. Alptories Rose moisturizing face cream* was my second product of choice. I only tested it a few times. It doesn't smell to much of roses which I like but it was a bit heavy for Summer/early Fall. I'll test it better in the colder times. Also a big plus for being vegan, some face creams unfortunately still use animal ingredients. They also put a surprise product in the box, Alpstores Cleansing gel Sage & mint*. It's meant to clean and purify your skin so it's a bit too much for my dehydrated skin and it leaves it screaming for moisture. But on my back and shoulders where my skin can get a bit problematic, it works well.

a-england Proserpine

a-england products were on my wish list for a very long time. I love their brand design and you can tell that each collection is made with a clear story in creators head, not just some random trendy colors thrown together. So when I saw a huge blogsale I quickly snatched two a-england polishes. One of them is a-england Proserpine, a gorgeous shimmery teal color with subtle holo effect. The  official website describes it more poetically as "Expressive blue teal holographic shade that suggests the turning of turbulent tides while mirroring the rays of light above". I obviously can't speak for all of the products but this polish is to die for, not just the color but the formula as well.  I love that it has a classic straight cut brush that spreads formula evenly and give you great control during application. The formula is just the right consistency and the polish is practically one coater. Out of habit I put two coats on but on short nails one coat would do. I can't wait to try my other polish (a-england Briarwood) and I'm sure this won't be my last a-england purchase.

Life update/Future of my blog

Long time no post :) There has been a lack of posts for the past month and I feel it's right to give you all a quick update. Life has been pretty hectic lately, I've been super busy with my job (yay 10+ hour long shifts). While I love it and it's rewarding, after coming home in the evening all I see is my bed. On the weekends I like to recharge my batteries and spend some quality time with my pets and loved ones. On top of that I've been having problems with my camera, it's getting old and it would need to be replaced. But honestly this are all...well I wouldn't call them excuses, because they are valid reasons not to blog, but they are not the main reason I don't feel like blogging.

Picture polish by Lacquertude Forget me not

Very fitting name of this nail polish considering my passion for blogging is slowly dying :)
Picture polish Forget me not was created in a collaboration with Kate from Lacquertude. It's such an amazing shade, bright blue with scattered holo. The formula was great, two thicker coats gave me a full coverage. Even though the formula has glitter particles the surface dries smooth. I can't stop admiring it <3 This was my first experience with Picture polish and I'm excited to try more.

Review: Spring time mani

Yes love Neon glitter polishes used to be all the rage and naturally I bought a bunch of them :) I must admit I'm not really a fan of pastel shades but these just caught my attention. Yes love G11-2 has a peachy sheer base with colorful glitters and hexagons. The reason why I never wore it is because believe it or not, I didn't have a peachy base for it. Recently Avon surprised me with Avon nailwear pro + in Sheer citrus, which made me think of Yes love polish again. I decided to combine them both for a cheery spring mani. Both polishes are quite sheer so I had to put two coats of each. Surprisingly no bubbling *big thumbs up*

Essence Lights of Orient TE: review and swatches

Some Essence collections leave me cold but this one made me feel like I'm under the hot oriental sun :) It has been a while since Essence released such an eye catching and beautiful collection. From the packaging design to color scheme there's not a thing I don't like. Since I'm trying to minimize my shopping I decided not to buy the entire collection and narrowed my wishes down to three products.

Rudolph's favorite Glitter queen

Lately all my nail blog posts feature red :) Can't help myself, it's such a versatile color. For this mani I decided to combine two polishes I received in advent calendars
Essence Rudolph's favorite is a nice medium red creme with an excellent formula. It glades on your nails in two easy coats. The shade is not very original so finding a dupe shouldn't be too hard. Since I need manis to stay on my nails as long as possible I often put some kind of a glitter topper over it. This time I went for Alessandro Glitter queen. The glitters compliment the red very well and give it an extra kick. Thick coat of top coat and you're good to go :)

March favourites

Finally, monthly favourites on time :) I don't have a lot of new favourite products this month so I'll keep it short and sweet.

Hurraw! Black cherry tinted lip balm
I'm obsessed with Hurraw! lip balm. They're very oily in consistency but don't sit on your lips for hours. They make my lip super soft and I always use at least one. This month I've been reaching for Black cherry. It smells amazing and also leaves slight reddish tint on my lips.

Happy Jackson High five! shea butter hand cream
I admit I bought it for the packaging :) But it turned out to be a great hand cream. It smells amazing, like Yankee candles Soft blanket <3 Shea butter is not the main ingredient (8th place on INCI list) so the scent sadly probably comes from some fragrance. The cream sink into skin quickly and is great for date time use.

Avon Mesmerize
This was actually a gift from the very nice Mikela, author of Loving from Berlin. This perfume has notes of white peach, pink peony and sandalwoodWhat I can say is that it smells good :) Very oriental and sweet so it was perfect for the past colder weather.

Weleda nail oil pen
I got this little gem in a giveaway hosted by the gorgeous Sara from Passing fancy. Oil smell amazing, fresh yet fruity and the pen distributes just the right amount of oil. I use this pen on the go if my cuticles start to look sad and before taking photos.

Crane sport "smart" watch/bracelet
Had to include this non beauty fave. I'm not really a fan of watches but I do like anything that motivates me to move my ass. Recently I've been using this Crane bracelet that works as a watch, but also counts your steps, tracks you sleep, activity and more. It connects to an app on your phone and it allows you to track your daily activities. I'm totally hooked and now I compete with myself to reach my goals each day :)

Thanks for stopping by**

Oriflame Red classic

Red is an all time classic nail color and I love wearing all shades of red. Oriflame Red classic is just what the name says. Bright engine red creme that will look good on most complexions. Name isn't the only thing that's classic about this polish. It has a standard brush, which is easy to work with and a good formula. I needed two coats for good opacity. It didn't last long on my nails but that might be because I had a lot of dishes to wash that week :) I'm sure I'll give it another try in the future, this polish is a stunner <3

Essence All that greys TE Roaring red

I know it's kinda jerky to post limited editions products once they can't be bought anymore but I'm willing to do an exception from time to time. In my defense, this stunning polish was a gift I received from my ride-or-die Gin in January, way pass the trend editions selling date.

Essence All that greys TE Roaring red is a dark red polish with red shimmer. The finish is described as Pearly matte. Regular matte can sometimes look a bit chalky and flat but the shimmer in Roaring red gives it that lit from within look. The application was a bit tricky, every mistake is visible and as you can see, any ridges on your nail will show. The durability amazed me, mattes are known for their bad staying power but this polish stayed on my nails the usual 4-5 days.

Empties #1

Today we're going to do something I love and that's talking trash :) I love reading empties post on other blogs so why not make them myself as well. First I must admit that besides nail polish I hoard other personal hygiene/makeup products as well. Lately I've been very good with my "no-buy" and I started finishing more products. Then came Beautiful bloggers Meetup and complicated things with all the gifts but oh well, I won't be complaining too hard :)

Review: Avon Magic effects Molten metal

A while ago Avon surprised me with their entire Magic effects Molten metal line. The lines consists of five polishes and has the standard Avon packaging; 10 ml and a nice, straight cut flat brush. The name of the line can be a bit misleading, I was expecting more of a chrome, liquid metal finish but these are actually subtle glitter textures. I tried to put top coat over it but the surface still wasn't smooth. Polishes are quite thick but still apply great. The pigmentation is very good, you can go for a thicker coat or two thin ones.

Review: BPS holo nail foil

Today I have a review of Born pretty store nail foil for you. As I was typing the title of this post I accidentally wrote holo nail fail which is exactly what this is :) I don't know if this is bad foil or I just don't know how to use it but I wasn't able to transfer much of the holo on my nails :(
First I applied black polish and waited for it too dry almost completely and then put nail foil on. That didn't work well as more polish sticked to the foil then foil on polish. Then I tried with Essence foil glue. I painted my nails and after they were completely dry I put a thin coat of glue and again waited for it to almost dry. The foil seemed to stick better (the result is on photos) but no holo. It still looked good but more metallic blue rather than holo.

Review: Balea Reinigungs öl (cleansing oil)

Balea Reinigungs öl (2,60 €) already made its first appearance in my monthly favourites but both you and me wanted a separate, more detailed post. Cleansing oils have been all the rage lately and have been on my wish list for some time now. Unfortunately they were mostly unavailable in Slovenia and/or quite pricey. I was really set on trying the L'Occitane one when Balea released cleansing oil.

Review: Essence Valentine - Who cares? (first impression and swatches)

Valentine's day is upon us and as always, Essence prepared a trend edition all about this. Instead of going with classic hearts and pinks they chose the other route and declared a war on Valentine's day. Ok maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but it's refreshing to see an anti Valentine's day collection. Essence team sent me the translucent fixing powder and smokey eyeshadow stick for review and I bought the perfume and liquid lipstick myself.

Review: Aussie hair care

I am so far on some of my posts it's cringe worthy. The bright side of this situation is that these products are very well tested :) Last year in September I received three Aussie hair care products of my choice for review. I picked Aussie Miracle moist shampoo, conditioner and Aussie 3 minute miracle reconstructor. In Slovenia Aussie products are available in Muller and Dm for around 7€ per product.

Essence Amazed by you

I received Essence Amazed by you at the Beautiful Blogger Meetup back in October. Gorgeous Autumn shade but it took me a while to finally wear it. Essence Amazed by you is a classic shade, warm purple with strong red undertones. It dries a bit darker on my nails which isn't a problem for me. I had a bit of a problem with the application since I'm not a fan of their curved brush. The formula is normal, not too thin and not too thick. I did the standard two coats followed by a coat of top coat. Despite the brush Essence Amazed by you is a must have <3

Golden rose Rich color 45

First post of this year, let's do this :)

Golden rose is fairly new on our market but I've been a fan way before they came to Slovenia. Currently I'm loving their Velvet matte lipstick line but it's nail polish that initially made me like them. Let me refresh your mind with a wonderful vampy texture Golden rose Holiday 58  or vacation-by-the-sea craving Golden rose Jolly jewels 107.

One of their products that I've picked here is Golden rose Rich color 45. Although it's very affordable (think Essence range) this polish has a great cut brush, better then some pricier polishes I own. What sold me is the shade. Medium red, packed with tiny red, orange and fuchsia glitters. Unfortunately it's very hard to capture it so if you're ever in a Golden rose store, give this shade a look. The formula is a very average one, I needed two coats for a full opacity. I'm happy we finally have Golden rose products available in Slovenia and I'm excited to try new things.
